DIY - WALL MOUNTED BEER BOTTLE OPENER

So last Sunday was Fathers Day...

My husband is a difficult man to buy for, i have the same issues when Christmas and his birthday come around too. I know these dates are coming and yet still go into mini panic mode. Socks were not needed, he hardly ever wears cufflinks, jewellery was done last year and he doesn't eat chocolate. *sigh*

When we recently had a kitchen refurb and during this decided to install a small drinks fridge, perhaps more Mr Smith's idea than mine. I thought 'extra storage for Christmas food' he thought 'extra storage for beer' I'm sure there will be battles over this at some point.
We recently had friends over and during their stay the men were constantly hunting down bottle openers, really i don't know what they were doing with them but the little so and so's kept vanishing...

Thinking on from a project last summer (where Mr Smith built a 'reclaimed wood beer bottle opener with cap catcher - this still remains an unfinished project) i searched online to find something that could be wall mounted (therefore unloose able!) and would look fab in our kitchen. I found THIS, it looked ace, it was wood mounted and had a funky bottle opener - WIN! However it was £22, then with £2.75 postage it came to just shy of £25?! Yikes!
I little hunting online later... I came across these - CLICK CLICK. A set of not one but TWO rustic cast iron bottle openers (with attachments) for a mere £6.99 delivered - Yippee!

A little scrap wood from the storage bin, a bit of sanding and staining plus a few drilled holes for wall mounting and there was this... A fab wood mounted bottle opener which not only opens Mr Smiths bevvys but also looks pretty funky on our kitchen wall (besides the fridge of course)

As there were two brackets in the pack we had a spare which Mr Smith plans on using for his 'outdoor' bottle opener (and catcher) which have been gathering dust in our shed for the last 12 months. Stay tuned for that one!

Along with this the girls both made Daddy a card - got to a love a home made card covered in that much PVA glue and glitter that it can't stand alone. Fathers Day gifts complete. A awesome wall mounted beer opener and a pack of four of his favourite weekend tipple.

DIY - SUPER EASY 'NO SEW' BURLAP BUNTING

Early this year i stumbled (literally) across an amazing old mirror at a local thrift sale. It cost me the princely sum of... £2! Yep £2! (about $3.20US)

It was covered in small glass panes and surrounded with a very unloved wooden frame which had been received what looked like a cost of every colour paint out there. It was very sad, very shabby and so coming home with me. I had an issue, unfortunately i could not fit the window in my car, fortunately i was able to have it delivered. Hurray!

I get my window home, it gets a new lease of life - SEE HERE FOR WINDOW UPCYCLE and i LOVE it. I mean i LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Its not to everyones taste but *sigh* i love it, did i mention that?

Anyone my beauty of a upcycled window needs some pretty decor and as i have roll of burlap handy, our came the scissors and i whipped up this SUPER easy 'no sew' burlap bunting.

THRIFTY FINDS - UPCYCLED £2 THRIFT STORE WINDOW

I LOVE thrift store/sale shopping.

I like the fact that i can find items which are not 'high street' which means i can 'work' on them (my stamp, if you get what i mean) and not only come out with something that is unique to our home but that also cost a fraction of a store price. I also like, no 'I love' the fact that items have a history of some sorts, there are creases in a book for a reason, a little like the dings in this window frame. It has 'history' even though i may never know what it is/was.

I know nothing more of this window than the fact that its past owner had it stowed away for years, he wanted rid of it and charged me the princely sum of... £2! One mans trash etc etc. He had no use for it, i happily did.

DIY - UPCYCLED 'IKEA HACK' MIRROR FRAME [with plans!]

Were finally on the last straight to getting our house back to 'normal' after the recent renovation works including 2.5 bathroom refits and a conversion - yikes. A builder/decorator/plaster free home has been a rare occasion and it is amazing to once again have our home back and to be able to 'finish off' the rooms which have been needing off work for so long.

DIY - RUSTIC SCRAP WOOD PUMPKINS

Halloween is just around the corner and i wanted to share with you this SUPER cute and really easy DIY project that adds that extra Halloween flare with a rustic twist.

Best things about these little pumpkins... they cost me nothing to make! By just using household items these little beauties were created in super quick time.

DIY - RECLAIMED WOOD 'SPA STYLE' BATH BOARD [Plans]

As a busy Mommy of two a relaxing bath in an evening is often a rare but cherished experience.

This cute bath board looks amazing, but not only does it look the part its functional too - it will house your phone (if your brave) and maybe even a bar of choccy and a glass of rose (or cup of tea in my case - haha) whilst you soak for a while and then during the day it is a great stand for some pretty trinkets and candles.

DIY - RECLAIMED WOOD BATHROOM SHELVES

Hi all, were back.

After an amazing sunshine filled holiday in Spain i've landed back with a bump and I'm so so happy to report... we now have two out of our three bathrooms complete - hurrah! Our bathrooms have been ongoing projects for a while now, we opted to do all three in one swoop (perhaps not the wisest idea) but at last the end is in sight. In ode to our shiny new bathrooms i want to share with you one of our new DIY projects.

DIY - CUTE RAG BANNER

I needed something pink, cute and on a budget for a little extra decor in our little girls playroom. A rag banner was the answer. These little beauties are really quick to make, you need just three things and they look super cute!!
