THE PLAYHOUSE DIARIES - UP-CYCLED 'DIY' KIDS BOOKCASE

So far i haven't shared much from our garden Playhouse. This is about to change...

Over the last week i have been snapping away and finishing up the final details, it looks SO good and our little girls both love it. We purchased the Playhouse locally and began by giving it a good coat (or five, yes five!) of paint. You can check our our colour choices here. I can't wait to show you all the projects and the finish product.

> DIY curtains and cushions (from vintage floral sheets)
> DIY kitchen sink and cooker (which were up-cycled from old Ikea cabinets)
> DIY decoupaged table which i got for FREE (its so cute)
and SO many more...

You can visit us at The Playhouse Diaries HERE - This will be kept updated on all the exciting projects from the playhouse.

To the first project...

I love to find a bargain, who doesn't? But when i stumbled upon this old, bashed pink wall shelving at a thrift sale i only had one place in mind for it, The Playhouse. The wall unit didn't need anything in the way of repairs it would just a colour issue. The pink colour was a lacquered covering which initially worried me but as this unit cost a mere 50p (80c) i couldn't pass it by.

Would you like to see the finished result?

It was important for us to have books within the playhouse along with the girls other toys. In order to keep the books safe (and not ripped for as long as possible) this shelf worked well. It slotted nicely in between the vertical wooden beams on the playhouse wall which was even better.

I give you... our new story book playhouse shelving

How Cute!! Im so happy with it and for a few pence i couldn't really go wrong. It was such a great purchase.

WHAT I USED

> White Paint
> Sand Paper
> Primer
> Paintbrush
> Clear Sealer

WHAT I DID

> I sanded over the pink lightly and gave the whole unit two good layers of primer
> When the primer was dry i began painting the unit white
> When the unit was dry i covered it with two clear layers of clear sealer
